Kimberley “Full Circle Safari” 2009 Itinerary

Day 1:

Depart Broome at 7.30am for Windjana Gorge N.P. Stop at Willare Bridge Roadhouse for morning tea (own expense) Lunch at our campsite and then a walk through the stunning Windjana Gorge, home to a large population of freshwater crocodiles. The gorge is the best place in Australia to view these unique creatures and also offers fantastic birdlife and scenery.

Day 2:

We head a few kilometres down the road to the amazing Tunnel Creek. En-route we stop to view the ruins of the Lillimilura Police Station where the legendary Jandamarra (Pigeon) murdered Constable P.C. Richardson. After our adventurous walk through Tunnel Creek we continue on to Fitzroy Crossing for lunch at our campsite before enjoying an afternoon cruise through Geikie Gorge (optional).

Day 3:

This morning we visit the Yiyili Aboriginal Community and the fantastic Laari Art Gallery en-route to Halls Creek and the China Wall. Time permitting we will enjoy a scenic drive around the Old Halls Creek region before settling in at the Old Halls Creek Lodge campsite

Day 4:

An early morning departure for the World Heritage listed Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles). After lunch in the park we will visit Echidna Chasm before enjoying sunset drinks atop a beautiful lookout.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 5:

This morning we take a walk to the amazing Cathedral Gorge and stroll alongside the Beehive Domes that Purnululu is famous for. Optional Helicopter rides are available from the Bellburn Airstrip inside the park. Lunch en-route to Kununurra where we enjoy a meal out tonight (at own expense).

Day 6:

Free day in Kununurra. Browse around the café’s and art galleries in town or enjoy a Triple J cruise on the magnificent Ord River. (We will book all optional tours in advance for you).

Day 7:

More leisure time in Kununurra and a chance to do another optional sightseeing tour such as the Alligator Airways Works Flight. Those clients who book this option depart early for the aerial tour of the pristine Kimberley coastline. The tour incorporates the Kalumburu Mission, Mitchell Falls, Wyndham, Port Warrender, Lower Ord River, WWII Bomber wrecks, and the Cambridge Gulf. Morning Tea and guided tour of Kalumburu Mission and lunch at Home Valley Station is included. Those clients not taking the flight will have a free day in Kununurra to explore some of the many highlights in the area.

Day 8:

Departing from Kununurra we visit the Zebra Rock Gallery for a taste of the local art and crafts and maybe a mango smoothie!! We soon hit the dirt and get on the legendary Gibb River Road as we make our way to El Questro, a million acre wilderness park. Lunch at our campsite before getting aboard our afternoon Cruise on the Chamberlain River (included in tour cost).

Day 9:

An early morning visit to the gorgeous Zebede Springs on El Questro before crossing the Pentecost River on the way to the fantastic Home Valley Station. An afternoon of leisure including a sensational sunset on the banks of the Pentacost River overlooking the Cockburn Range and maybe some saltwater crocs as well!! Dinner tonight in the famous Dusty Bar & Grill at Home Valley (own expense).

Day 10:

A long drive today as we head into the West Kimberley and Mt.Barnett Station (Manning Falls). We can’t drive past Ellenbrae Station and miss out on the famous Devonshire Teas on offer!! (own expense). We should arrive at our riverside camp mid-afternoon and then enjoy drinks by the Manning River as the sun sets on another great Kimberley day.

Overnight: Mt.Barnett Station (Manning Falls).
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 11:

This morning we trek to the rugged Manning Gorge and enjoy a swim in the fantastic pool below the falls. Back to camp for lunch before heading off to Charnley River Station via the pristine Galvans Gorge.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 12:

A leisurely morning exploring some of the beautiful attractions on Charnley River Station. En-route to Bell Gorge / Silent Grove camp we will stop at the Imintji Store where we can relax and enjoy lunch in the gardens. Late afternoon arrival at Silent Grove camp (Bell Gorge).

Overnight: Silent Grove (Bell Gorge)
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

Day 13:

Today we visit Bell Gorge, one of the most popular attractions in the Kimberley. Beautiful waterholes and a waterfall plunging into a huge pool makes this a memorable way to spend our last morning. After this it’s back to Broome on the Gibb River Road where our journey ends late afternoon.
